it’s thursday, july 29, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called revati. pisces is the twelfth sign of the natural zodiac, which is the house of our last desire. it is thus associated with moksha, liberation, our release from the weight of our embodied existence. but as my teacher sam geppi points out, most of us don’t really want to be liberated, we just want to be free of our pain, free to be happy all the time. in the environment of pisces, we hew toward surrendering to the truth of our existence, but maybe our truth is that being happy all the time is a fantasy, though we can sure do our best to make it a reality as much as possible.
revati’s deity is pushan, the shepherd, the one who guides us home, bringing the lesson that we are all shepherds for one another, that, for example, any act of kindness can light the way for someone else.
“i shall pass through this world but once. any good therefore that i can do or any kindness that i can show to any human being, let me do it now. let me not defer or neglect it, for i shall not pass this way again.” — stephen grellet
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waning moon, which invites us, like shiva’s son kartikeya, to celebrate our victories, our successes, rather than focus on our failures. what can you celebrate today, big or small?
thursday is the guru’s day, it’s ruled by jupiter, the part of us that is receptive to the constant influx of wisdom teachings, whether they come from people or animals or events or life situations. in the film “the wisdom of trauma,” which you can watch free for a couple of days, gabor maté, talks about how our pain, our trauma, our illness can be our greatest teacher. & by dealing with his trauma (if you were born, you probably have trauma—almost no one escapes childhood unscathed), a man who had stage 4 prostate cancer went into remission! today would be a good day to, say, ask whatever pain you might be feeling (if you’re not, yay, you!) what it has to teach you, what lesson(s) it wants to offer up, how you can free yourself from that pain.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
