daily blissit’s monday, july 29, & i’m getting a late start b/c i had to take a fasting blood test this morning, which meant no coffee, eeeegads! even shri k. pattabhi jois, the patriarch of 20th-century ashtanga, said, “no java, no prana” &, yeah, i can vouch for the truth of that pearl of wisdom! but i am tanked up now & glad to be sitting in the oasis of my boulder backyard rather than the torture chamber of sad & congested los angeles.

soooooo, moon is in the starspace called ardra, which is in gemini. gemini creates an environment where speech & communication hold sway, where we can indulge our curiosity, be playful with it. we connect with others by communicating with them, we learn by having fun—i mean, if you don’t enjoy something you aren’t going to learn it, are you? or is it just me?! good thing that gemini’s ruler, mercury, is no longer retrograde, which means there’s no holding back when it comes to those mercury areas of life, so go forth & communicate, learn, play!

ardra is symbolized by a teardrop & is ruled by rudra, the precursor to shiva. according to the visnu purana, rudra wailed & wailed & wailed upon being born until the creator, brahma, named him; his name actually means “he who cries.” rudra brings storms of change—externally in the form of natural disasters as well as internally in the form of mental/emotional/spiritual angst. he makes us cry. interestingly, i had very watery dreams last night—it spilleth everywhere. anyone else?

rudra’s wailing-wailing-wailing was the movement of prana. there is no life without prana, & the movement of prana, which means change, can make us weep. but rudra moves prana, brings change, in order to dispel our ignorance & will keep bringing change until we are fully awake, so get used to it. it’s your party, so cry if you want to, then dry your tears, pick yourself up, take a positive action step & move on!

it’s the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to love & desire, so a great good day for some face time with, or to send a sweet note to, a loved one.

& that’s your daily bliss—monday is ruled by the moon, so feel into your emotional body to guide your through your day, trust your intuition.
