daily blissit’s tuesday, july 2, & this post is gonna be a little longer than usual, because … moon is in the starspace of gemini called ardra. sun is there as well, moon is dark & the lunar nodes are nearby, all of which conspire to create the perfect storm that is the solar eclipse today. eclipses disturb energy, bring what’s hidden to light. secrets may be revealed—to yourself or to the world.

speaking of storms, ardra is ruled by rudra, the stormy aspect of shiva, who brings transformation through destruction. shiva is the change agent, the one who closes one door so that another one can open. that door closing can elicit all kinds of emotions—fear, doubt, grief—which, perhaps long hidden, may come to the surface now thanks to the eclipse energy.

you may want to cry you some tears today, so go ahead. even shiva cried. one symbol of ardra is the teardrop, which is connected to the oceans of tears shiva cried when his beloved, sati, killed herself by throwing herself on a pyre b/c shiva had been dissed by her father, daksha. shiva also stomped & raged & destroyed nearly everything in his path, but eventually he cooled his jets & found a cozy perch on mt. kailash, where he could do penance, meditate in peace for thousands of years … until parvati managed to get his attention.

& they all lived happily ever after, mostly, sort of, as long as you don’t take into account the time shiva accidentally cut off their son’s head. but that’s a whole other story. the point is: no transformation without suffering, no flowers without rain, internal storms purge stagnant energy, & when in doubt, meditate.

the nodes, which trigger eclipses, are in the axis of gemini & sagittarius, so if you are gemini or sagittarius rising or have planets in those signs (in the vedic system of astrology), this eclipse will feel more potent.

& if you were born 18 or 36 or 54 or 72 years ago, this placement of the nodes is the same as when you were born, which means you are going through what’s called a nodal return. the nodal axis represents our karmic work in this lifetime, the big lessons we are here to learn. when the nodes return to the same signs they were in when we were born it means it’s time to do some serious cleanup in whatever area of life those signs are associated with. & thus there is enormous possibility for transformation—yay! not sure what needs cleaning up, where you’re supposed to focus your energy? contact me for a reading!

the nodes are in the same placement they were in on 9/11 & we know that as above so below: don’t be surprised if the internal storms of change, of transformation, don’t erupt externally as well. iran is trying hard to push our buttons, but will we take the bait? our country’s birthday is two days after the eclipse, indicating the potential for huge transformation here at home. the protestant reformation, which challenged the authority of the catholic church, was fomented in 1517 when the nodes were in this axis—definitely a progressive movement. change is afoot, but which path will we take—war or peace, regression or progression? are you an optimist or a pessimist?

the veil is thin around eclipses, so keep a low profile today, be aware that you & others could be easily triggered. meditate. the time between now & the lunar eclipse on july 16 is not a good time to start new projects or make major commitments. it’s a time to ponder & reflect. notice what is being awoken in you, where shadow is leading you to the work that needs to be done. know that eclipses intensify, magnify—it’s hard to avoid what they reveal, but we also have to be wary of getting caught in the undertow of emotions.

& that’s your daily bliss—tuesday is ruled by mars, whose highest expression is to be a spiritual warrior. the best way to do that is to think before you act, to act with a clear head. the best way to clear your head is to meditate. if we can raise an army of spiritual warriors we can raise the consciousness of the world!
