it’s monday, july 3, & guru purnima, the full moon (purnima) in honor of our gurus, & it’s in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha. not everyone has a guru-guru, a spiritual teacher, but we all have & have had teachers, none of us could have gotten as far as we have without someones guiding us, enlightening us somehow someway—teaching us how to add & subtract, write, seeing potential in us & mentoring us. a guru is the remover (ru) of the darkness (gu), aka ignorance, the one who gives us a glimpse of the light, of the light within, leads us to god, to our divine authenticity.
shiva is said to have been the first guru & to have given his first download to his seven disciples (the saptarishis) on this day. our parents were our first teachers & we have since had many. & we know that we are all each other’s teachers, right? that we, like gurus, are mirrors, give each other constant opportunities to uplevel, evolve, enlighten up, right? do show your appreciation for your teachers today!
“if you find a man & you feel that you have found your master, that simply shows that in his voice, in his being, there is a reflection of that still, small voice of god. the guru outside you is but a mirror. he reflects you, reflects god. & the real master will throw you back to yourself. the real guru will not bind you to himself, because the real guru is life itself, the real guru is god himself.”—osho
purvashadha brings a lesson about our invincibility, about that thing in us that we want to birth, that persists in our imagination. with hopeful, optimistic jupiter throwing grace on this full moon in his own sign of sagittarius, it is def time to hatch that plan, stop incubating it, thinking about it, to believe in it.
the full moon in sagittarius means the sun is opposite, in gemini, & the sun is conjunct gemini’s ruler, mercury. which means there is a polarity between our thinking mind, which may be too bizzy & buzzy, too thinky, & our inner knowing, our intuition. we get to remember that thoughts are just thoughts, they come & go.
& it’s monday, the moon’s day, so a double-good reminder to go with your heart, not your mind!
putting it all together, our moon work for the waning cycle is to honor our teachers by making what’s been percolating real, to trust in your ability to manifest it.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
