it’s friday, july 5, & moon is in the starspace of cancer called ashlesha. which means we are still feeling pulled into our heart energy, but in ashlesha we can wrap ourselves tightly around some emotion or other, cling so hard we can’t let go, lose perspective. b/c ashlesha means “embracing” or “entwining,” like a snake. are you clinging to the light or to the darkness? is it serving you? one downside of cancer energy is that it can make us so selflessly nurturing that we forget about our own needs. remember: in order to truly care for others, we have to take care of ourselves as well!
in hindu mythology, snakes, or serpents, are considered the embodiment of wisdom. but snakes (like, um, the huge rattler i inadvertently stepped over on the trail yesterday!) also contain poison. hmmmm. … this apparent contradiction suggests that we gain wisdom, intelligent insights, by transforming the poisons in our mind, by overcoming obstacles, by dealing with some challenges.
shesha naga was the celestial serpent the gods & demons used to churn the milk ocean way back when the cosmos was being born. poison rose to the surface, & like scum atop a pot of boiling beans, had to be skimmed off so the nectar could be enjoyed. we have to deal with, acknowledge, the negativity when it arises, but the trick is to not get poisoned by it, to hold it in our metaphorical throats like shiva did the primordial nectar without swallowing it, not letting it permeate our entire being.
so beware what you feel emotionally attached to this morning! then beware the gap early this afternoon when moon moves into leo without the supportive net of an asterism. mind could feel a bit wobbly then. the first nakshatra of leo is magha, where we feel connected to our ancestors. ponder how you are or are not honoring them; ponder how might be able to heal your lineage by expressing the magnificence & complexity of your true nature.
it’s the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which is related to ganesha, who loves to put obstacles in our path for us to overcome—& we can!
& that’s your daily bliss—friday is ruled by venus, & venus just wants to have fun, preferably with others, so don’t deny yourself today.
