it’s thursday, july 6, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called dhanishta. aquarius vibrates with the frequency of selfless service, humanitarianism, of wanting to do our part to, as gandhi said, be the change we want to see in the world. for he knew that “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” & that “man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men.” aquarius is ruled by saturn, who incarnated as kurma, the tortoise who dove way underwater & held the sinking world (ok, a mountain) selflessly on his back during the churning of the milk ocean. kurma’s great effort was largely invisible, was behind, or, um, under the scenes. although gandhi eventually attracted great notoriety, it was his slow, steady tortoiselike perseverance in obscurity that fomented the change he wanted to see in the world.
dhanishta means “wealthiest,” is ruled by the eight vasus (gods of abundance) & is symbolized by a drum, often shiva’s damaru, but i’m going with a photo of tablas, since they’re my fave. this asterism thus brings a lesson about being in alignment with the righteous forces of the universe, which allows us to find our own unique rhythm & thus guarantees our success. are you dancing/living to the beat of your own drum or someone else’s, society’s? time to realign!
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by both yama, lord of death, & ganesha, lord of obstacles. yikes—sounds kind of ominous, no? only if we fear endings, death being the ultimate one, the ultimate obstacle, over which we have no control. what we do have control over is how we show up in the face of obstacles. & we get to remember that ganesha places obstacles in our path only to challenge us, only to help us evolve. it’s a good day to face, not fear, obstacles. jai ganesha!
thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us the wisdom & insight to zoom out on our life, expand our perspective, see how our greater destiny is unfolding, which allows us to accept that bigger forces than ourselves are at play. & when we finally recognize that as uhtred of bamburgh famously knew, “destiny is all,” we can find peace.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
