it’s sunday, july 7, & moon is moving into the starspace called uttara phalguni, which occupies a wee bit of real estate in leo but the bulk of its estate is in virgo. thus, this asterism connects the kingly nature of leo with the practical nature of virgo. in leo we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors & honor them by figuring out how to leave the world a better place than we found it, to continue their great good works. in virgo, we have to get it done, deal with the practical details, be the minister to leo’s king/queen, delegate, but most likely delegate to ourselves.
there is a sense of ambition, of seeing where we want to go & having the courage to overcome any obstacles that may stand in our way. these obstacles may appear as the overwhelm of infinite possibility & the frustration of our limitations as humans in the vastness of the universe.
when i was in india the first time, we stopped at a sivananda ashram, where we found the head swami sitting in the courtyard on a pile of bricks happily whacking away at them with a sledgehammer. when we inquired about why such an evolved being would be doing manual labor, he laughed & said something to the effect of, “must do something!”
you know what they say: “before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water; after enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”
we have to do something & it might as well be productive, might as well advance, improve, our lives & the lives of those around us while we are here on the planet, right? might as well smash bricks so you can pave the courtyard or make new walking paths or fashion a pretty border for the veggie patch, right?
it’s the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which is a good day to celebrate your victories—what did you do yesterday that deserves a self-pat on the back?
& that’s your daily bliss—sunday is ruled by, yes, the sun, who is also connected to uttara phalguni, giving us insight & the ability to act on that insight, share it with the world.
