it’s friday, june 11, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra. after the groundedness of earthy taurus, we feel secure enough to spread our wings & fly some in airy gemini, which vibrates with the frequency of curiosity & experimentation. the symbol of gemini is not twins but a man & a woman, he holding a club, she a musical instrument, suggesting the ideal of being able to see from all perspectives, male & female, warrior & artist. although in gemini, ruling planet mercury expresses his male energy, mercury is considered neither male nor female, but both. we are invited to embrace both our masculine & feminine, playfully, b/c mercury is discriminating but does not like to take things too seriously. have fun with that!
ardra means “wet, moist, damp, succulent, green, juicy” & is ruled by rudra, the god of storms, whose name means “the howler.” storms are wet & noisy; we cry wet tears & howl with rage when we storm. but the rain that comes with storms purifies the air as it falls & nourishes the earth, from which succulent green things then sprout & grow. so do our tears clear our personal air, purify us emotionally, allow us to purge grief & sadness, heartbreak & loneliness & helplessness, so that we too can feel fresh & renewed. storms don’t last forever, but they are necessary, they are useful, there is no rebirth without death, no gain without pain.
it’s the second phase of the waxing moon, which brings creativity inspired by the joy & delight that comes from connection to the divine, to source. how can you let the divine flow through you today, how can you allow yourself to be the vehicle rather than the doer, how can you let manifestation surprise you?
friday is ruled by venus, who wants us to enjoy the good things in life & share them with the ones we love, that’s why friday is vedic date night! do note that venus is hanging out in ardra for a few more days, so beware the impulse to blow up relationships, to rage & storm, unless, i mean, you are sure you are done.
