it’s monday, june 14, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called ashlesha. cancer vibrates with the frequency of unconditional love, from that place in our heart that wants to give without getting anything in return, the way a mother relates to her child. but unless we are truly anchored in the self, in our heart, are self-centered, we can’t see others clearly.
as krishna das writes in “chants of a lifetime“: “it is said that the heart is like a mirror that reflects our deepest being. if the mirror is covered with dust, the reflection is not clear. the mirror of the heart is covered with the dust of our ‘stuff’: selfish desires, anger, greed, shame, fear, & attachment.”
if our heart mirror is cloudy, we can’t see clearly & thus can’t give unconditionally; a subconscious (or not so subconscious) agenda always lurks in the shadow.
the asterism ashlesha is connected to serpent energy & is known as the entwiner. serpents/snakes represent our shadow, the dust on the mirrors of our heart, the negativity/woundedness we cling to. don’t be embarrassed, we’ve all got shadow—it’s part of being human! but we can all be superhuman by using the supernatural powers of serpents to transform our toxic mind-set into wisdom. the first step is recognizing what is toxic—thoughts, emotions, situations or people—& owning our role in creating & sustaining it.
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which is related to both lord ganesh & lord yama, the deities of obstacles & death, respectively. so don’t be surprised if you’ve got to jump over a hurdle today, if you feel stymied, & don’t be surprised if you have to let something go, if something has to die, both of which usually entail shifting our perspective—seeing an obstacle as an opportunity, a death as a new beginning.
monday is ruled by the moon & so is cancer, so it makes us doubly inclined to feeling hard into our hearts today & wanting to feel hard into the hearts of others, wanting our hearts & their hearts to feel each other hard.
