daily blisshappy summer solstice, the longest day of the year & the official beginning of summer!

it’s friday, june 21, & moon is in the starspace called dhanishta, which straddles capricorn & aquarius. the shakti of dhanishta is about feeling wealthy in body & mind, not necessarily in your bank account. i mean, as we all know (or are in the process of learning), the greatest wealth comes from creating value, from aligning with our values, from being a positive influence on those around us. how many people would rather be remembered for the number of grotesquely ostentatious buildings with their name on it rather than the number of people positively impacted by them?

in capricorn we get more serious about our personal responsibility, the good we can do for those near & dear; in aquarius, we’re ready to step it up, extend our sense of responsibility beyond the personal to the universal; we’re ready to smack down & selflessly do what we can to make the world a better place. but, hey, making the world a better place for all makes the world a better place for us. that’s called enlightened self-interest & there ain’t nothin’ wrong with that!

the aquarian energy invites us to bring the resources of people together to accomplish this goal. who’s on your team? who are the people aligned with your vision, the ones you can join up with or corral to get ‘er done? if we each take even a wee bit of responsibility—write letters, call congress, donate $, protest—for a cause, of which there are soooooo many right now, the goodness will override the not-goodness spreading like a virus throughout the world. but we all have to step up, not wait for someone else to do it, not pretend it’s not gonna get as bad as it might, not bypass by thinking it’s just the world’s karma, that this is how god must have intended things to be.

it’s the fifth phase of the waning moon, which is good for creative acts, as is dhanishta, so no stopping you today!

& that’s your daily bliss—friday is ruled by venus, so a great good day to celebrate the solstice with friends into the night, even if you can’t get to stonehenge, where solstice is a very big deal!
