it’s friday, june 23, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. just as cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine fem, leo vibrates with the frequency of the divine masc. cancer is all feeling, leo all doing; cancer reflecting & nourishing, leo acting & taking responsibility. we can think of cancer as the queen, leo as the king, the one who creates a safe container in which his queen, & all his subjects, can thrive, shine, be their best selves.
magha is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, biological & otherwise, all those who came before us & laid the groundwork for our existence, for our flowering. our work in this lifetime is to honor them by going further than they were able to go, by running with the baton they passed to us. in this way, we can heal our lineage karma, fulfill the dreams our forebears perhaps only got to dream, carry their DNA into the future. like, my dad always wanted to write but didn’t get to fulfill that creative urge except in letters. & here i am doing the writing thing in a much more public way.

what was silent in your lineage? how do you get to give voice to that?
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which means we get to celebrate our victories, all the positive action steps we’ve taken. it’s not a day to dwell on the coulda-woulda-shouldas!
friday is infused with the energy of venus, who wants us to love & be happy. “love is the white light of emotion,” said diane ackerman. white light is a purifying force. meaning that if we see through the eyes of love, it will purify our vision. i’m not going to pull any punches here—venus is not going to be in her happy place for the next six months! i know! & that means we’re likely to feel unloved, un- or underappreciated, dissatisfied with our material existence. so it’ll be more important than ever to remind ourselves of the abundance of our lives (i mean, people, we live in the first effing world!), which we can do by meditating on goddess laxmi, aka śrī (pictured here), whose name means “divine opulence” & is purity herself. try it!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
