speaking of female & male, bharani is the shakti to ashwini’s (see yesterday’s post) shiva; together they are the creative forces of manifestation—shiva plants the seed & bharani brings it to life. in fact, “bharani” means nourishing & is symbolized by the yoni, the female reproductive organ. another word for yoni is bhaga, which also means good fortune, beauty, pleasure, excellence & loveliness—so ponder that, everyone. (side note: in “the ramayana,” one of rama’s epithets is maha-bhaga, & it doesn’t mean he’s a big yoni!)
yama is the deity ruling this starspace. in yogic life, the yamas & niyamas are guidelines for focusing our lives, keeping us on the straight & narrow. they prevent us from dissipating our precious life force on what doesn’t serve by cleansing our physical bodies so the divine can flow freely through us.
just as the yoni is a funnel, a conduit, for transporting life from one realm to another, so the yamas & niyamas are a metaphysical funnel for transporting us from the material to the spiritual.
it’s the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which—how serendipitous!— has to do with yogic practices, so a good day to get your meditation & yamas on!
& that’s your daily bliss—friday is venus’s day & venus just wants to have fun. venus also moves into playful gemini this afternoon, so you may feel your creative juices or desire for bed pleasures more intensely for the next few weeks.
p.s. jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, understand why you are here & how the planets are guiding your way on, i’d love to enlighten you—contact me for a session! ~.~
