it’s sunday, june 30, & moon is in the starspace of taurus called rohini. earthy taurus is the moon’s happy place; we feel emotionally grounded & supported here, finding comfort & joy in what truly matters—friends & family. taurus is where we experience santosha, “contentment.” note that contentment does not equal happiness: happiness is conditioned, it depends on external circumstances/things/people; contentment it is not conditioned on anything; contentment is a result of peace of mind, it comes from within.
rohini’s energy is calm & sensual, so we have to watch out for being lulled into feeling “whatever” & inadvertently allowing overindulgence to crash the party.
rohini is derived from the sanskrit root ruh, which means “to grow, spring up, shoot forth” & is ruled by brahma, who literally (or, um, metaphorically) grew the entire universe into being: he is the creator of the universe. not only that, but he had to create himself so he could create the universe. (don’t try this at home, kids!)
there is immense creative potential & agency here, the message being that we create ourselves & our world—we’ve got the power!
the catch is that brahma got a little too full of himself as result of his magnificent creation, fell a little too hard for it, became too attached to it & was cursed as a result. so another aspect of this nakshatra’s message is to, yes, create beautiful things, but don’t get all egotistical about it, don’t keep them to yourself, don’t guard them jealously, share them with others, enjoy them but know that like everything material, like all sensual pleasures, they are not designed to last.
it’s the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which has to do with kamadeva (kama = desire; deva = god), a cupid-like figure, & dovetails nicely with the other-oriented & pleasure-focused energy of taurus. it’s a good day to hang out with loved ones & do what delights you.
& that’s your daily bliss—sunday is, duh, the sun’s day, so do get out in it, especially if it’s sunny where you are; move your body, feel the magnificence of your physical being, the radiance within you.
