it’s tuesday, june 4, & moon has moved into gemini, where we are curious, want to pursue many interests. moon is in the starspace called mrigashira until about noon-thirty mountain time, then moves into ardra. mrigashira energy is that of the wandering deer, searching for that something that will create the ultimate sense of satisfaction, cure the longing. ardra brings storms that transform.
the ruling deity of mrigashira is soma. soma was a mystery elixir extracted from a mystery plant that brought on states of divine ecstasy & revelation in vedic times & which was considered to be the nectar of the gods. “soma” also means “body” in greek & in “the mirror of yoga,” richard freeman compares hatha yoga to soma:
“within the process of yoga we take the body, just as the vedic priests took the sacred plant that produced the nectar of soma, & through practicing the asanas we literally twist the body around & wring it out in order to produce the nectar or the soma of yoga, which dips us directly into an experience of the true nature of our minds, & ultimately into the nature of the universe.”
many people use plant medicine today (ayahuasca, mushrooms) to achieve this state, other people follow the path of meditation, others chant or do asana. regardless, the experience is not contained within the drug or other modality—they are keys to unlocking that part of the brain that allows us to experience that state of being, that ecstatic oneness with all that is.
the point is: the soma is not out there, but contained within. the searching deer is searching in all the wrong places. what are you looking for & where are you looking?
ardra is “the moist one” & is depicted as a tear drop. this starspace is ruled by rudra, a fierce form of shiva (as if shiva isn’t fierce enough!), who brings stormy energy to destroy what doesn’t serve us so that we can transform. &, yeah, sometimes we have to have a good cry over whatever we have to let go. just make sure you destroy/delete what you mean to—no “civilian” casualties, please!
& that’s your daily bliss—tuesday is ruled by mars, & mars is ardra nakshatra right now, so do watch out for anger, be wary of getting into battle with others over your beliefs vs theirs.
