it’s monday, may 18, & moon moves from taurus into gemini at 10:30 a.m. MDT while being supported & transported by the starspace called mṛgaśira, it’s the third phase of the waxing moon & moon’s day.

after a taurus kinda weekend, one steeped in the nourishment of compassionate connection with our people & comfort in the solidity of our material, earthly existence, gemini makes us curious to venture beyond what we already know & love, what feels safe, to discover what might light us up even more mentally, physically, or creatively.

as the third sign/house of the natural zodiac, gemini is where we develop & grow our ego, our sheath of personality, by finding out what we’re good at, what our skill set is, what our gifts are, what we like, what resonates … & what doesn’t.

baseball? not so much. pickleball? maybe. skiing? most def!

gemini says, “leave no stone unturned.” what stone might you turn over?

mṛgaśira is the star of the wandering deer always in search of the next tasty—tastier, tastiest—morsel, the one that will be eternally satisfying, assuage the desire to keep searching. this nakshatra is ruled by soma, the juice of life, which is, according to the rigveda, “whatever the heart finds sweet.”

soma is also another name for the moon, who is fickle, doesn’t stay in one place (sign, nakshatra, tithi) for long, is always on the move. this can make us ADHD, keep us searching futilely everywhere.

the musk deer seeks the source of its intoxicating scent without realizing that its own glands produce it.

are you being led astray by your nose? does every stone really need to get unturned? what does your heart find sweet?

the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waxing moon, supports us with the ability to sustain & nourish, like ruling deity vishnu, the preserver of the universe—he keeps the sun shining, the plants growing. it is said that shiva & parvati were married on this tithi, which is why it’s associated with tending to family & home matters.

but/& kartikeya (i.e., mars) was born of their union, so the possibility for friction/frustration is also present (two’s company, three’s a crowd?!). & yet also the courage (kartikeya was an indefatigable & clever general) to keep nourishing relationships with motherly love regardless of bumps in the road, & there are always bumps in the road, no?

what do you get to nourish, sustain, tend to lovingly & courageously? do you allow yourself to be nourished? do you give enough time to your loved ones?

monday invites us to be our best moon-y self, which means, moon’s fickle nature notwithstanding, being the great connector, full of compassion for one & all, seeing sameness, not difference.

it’s a good day to reach out & touch someone, invite them into your circle of compassion.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
