it’s thursday, march 16, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha. sagittarius is ruled by jupiter, who in this sign (jupiter also rules pisces, where the feminine, watery qualities of the planet are expressed) expresses his masculine, fiery qualities, invites us to take action based on what inspires us. if we don’t take action, our inspirations are for naught. what inspires you? what are you going to do about it?

purvashadha means “early/former” (purva) “victory” (ashadha) & is ruled by apas, goddess of water. that space we cleared yesterday while moon was in mula? what do you want to plant in it? what seed in you has been biding its time, waiting for the right time to ripen & sprout, to be nourished into life? this asterism guarantees victory, makes us invincible—we can’t lose! that seed will live & thrive! all we have to do is purify ourselves inside & out, immerse in real or metaphorical water. go for a swim! jump in a river! dance in the rain! take a bath!

it’s the tenth lunar day, the tenth phase (tithi) of the waning moon, which supports us in doing our dharma. the expression “be all you can be” is apt, “all” & “you” being key, for it’s up to each of us to fulfill our unique purpose, not anyone else’s. as krishna counsels arjuna (def a guru-shishya relationship) in the bhagavad gita, “it is better to do one’s own dharma imperfectly than another’s perfectly” (18.47) & to do it with gusto, be all in.

“whatever you are, be a good one.”—abraham lincoln

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who connects us to teachers & teachings, to wisdom sources (including, ultimately, ourselves!), that keep us on our path. jupiter reminds us to: 1) follow our own path (& it’s the tenth tithi!), 2) let our heart be our guide, & 3) try not to step on anyone or in anything along the way, to do no harm. given that sag is also ruled by jupiter, it’s a double-good day to double-down on that jupiter energy, perhaps by studying or by teaching, as in sharing your wisdom, maybe with children, b/c jupiter is also the signifier of children, represents both sides of the coin, teacher & student (guru & shishya), the “parent” to the “child.”

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
