it’s wednesday, march 23, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. scorpio creates an environment in which we can feel tossed & turned by our emotional/psychological grunge, in which we don’t know what’s real anymore, b/c our worst fears & most paranoid paranoias start bobbing on the surface of our consciousness & we can’t ignore them. that’s ok! b/c if we didn’t see them, we wouldn’t know they were still there, might have thought we’d done all our work on our wounds. like, just when we least expect it, that abandonment wound, which we thought we’d canceled-cleared-deleted, worked through, in our last relationship looks us in the face again. & so, instead of being fearful, we get to be brave, stare back at it, get curious, see what else we might still have to learn or whether our beliefs around that wound are still actually valid.
“i love those who smile in trouble, gather strength from distress & grow brave by reflection.”—leonardo da vinci
jyeshtha means “eldest,” as in the eldest child or an elder, who often has responsibility for, respectively, younger siblings or the tribe. this asterism brings a lesson about how we wield our authority, our power over others, about being like umbrellas for those under our care, protecting them from harm, just as, when indra felt dissed by krishna, he lashed out with a violent storm & krishna lifted mount govardhana like an umbrella to protect his friends & held it aloft for seven days. “our friends” would include anyone & anything we wield influence over—all beings & the planet herself. we get to own our power & use it wisely & beneficially.
it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waning moon, which invites us to celebrate our victories. everything counts, any step forward in our lives. like, for example, finally, after procrastinating for forever, calling our new health insurance company to get the lowdown & then smacking down by finally, after procrastinating for forever, making all those doctors’ appointments that have been hanging over our heads.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us the curiosity to seek out new ideas & new information & the discriminating intelligence to decide what resonates, what feels true & useful. mercury gives us the power to cancel-clear-delete what doesn’t & keep what does. oh, & mercury keeps it light & playful, is unattached to the outcome & is as joyful as a child while doing so.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
