it’s tuesday, march 30, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hasta. the environment of virgo, thanks to its tamasic nature, is one in which we want to protect ourselves from, defend ourselves against, anything untoward happening to us. thus we create routines & protocols to keep us safe & healthy—physically, financially, etc. the downside of virgo is that we can become too rigid, stuck (virgo is also an earth sign) in our routines, too perfectionista. it’s really ok to eat a piece of chocolate occasionally (or, um, more than occasionally!), to skip the gym, to leave one cobweb for next time, to just be in the flow of what is, surrender into what’s calling in the moment.
hasta means “hand” & is ruled by savitur, a creative, inspirational & transformative solar deity. this asterism gives us the power to manifest our desires, to make them tangible & real, to metaphorically place them in our hands, or, um, for artisans & healers, to use our hands to manifest them, which is why hasta is associated with healers. it is the sun that wakes us up every day & the sun that provides our vision, gives us clarity, is our inner light. if you need a wake-up call, you can chant or listen to the gayatri mantra, the ode to the sun shining at the core of our being.
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which is associated with spiritual practices, especially but not necessarily fasting—any kind of sadhana that brings us closer to god, to our god nature. interestingly, savitur is said to direct & inspire the practices of yoga & the path to enlightenment. &, as shri brahmananda sarasvati said, “any worthwhile achievement is impossible without practices, & nothing is impossible with practice.” it’s a great good day to reconnect to or deepen your practices, whatever they might be.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who gives us the courage to fight, is our warrior spirit. with mars in cancer, where it’s easy for him to feel frustrated, it’s important, now more than ever (he’s going to be there another month), to remember that mars was born to defend, to fight the good fight, not to be the aggressor. if you don’t know what to do with your martian fire, go for a run, weed the garden—channel it through your body, through positive actions. mars loves to get physical, loves to get sh&t done!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
