it’s wednesday, march 9, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohini. in the environnment of taurus, we want to feel happy, ultimately happy for no reason, but in the meanwhile, we stoke the fire of happiness-without-cause by feeling the goodness of life, of our material existence. the feeling for me of taurus is of sinking into an overstuffed couch or lounging on an exquisite chaise with a cup of david’s tea’s mother’s little helper & a book i can’t put down. this taurus moon that book would be “untamed,” by glennon doyle, which i highly recommend, especially given that yesterday was international women’s day & her book is all about how the feminine is snuffed out early & how important it is to rekindle that flame into the roaring fire of shakti it is meant to be.
rohini was considered the moon’s favorite wife, all of the nakshatras being wives of the moon, & this made the other wives jealous, so moon had to share himself equally with all the other wives, which is why the lunar month is 27 days, allowing the moon to spend one night with each wife. yeah, way to practice polyamory! anyhoo, one lesson this asterism brings is to not get too attached to anyone or anything, to not get carried away by your lust, by your desire. can you be desirously unattached?
it’s the seventh lunar day, the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is related to indra, the king of the gods, who rode a rollercoaster, through the vedas & puranas, of highs & lows, the lows brought on by hubris. need i tell you what that means? that it’s a good day to feel into your sovereignty, into your power & responsibility, but not to lord it over others, not to let it all go to your head?!
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who loves to ponder words. like cor•po•rat•ism, a noun, which is defined as “a system or principle in which a whole society is organized into industrial and professional corporations serving as organs of political representation,” aka, in which an unelected corporate elite dictates top down to the population. ponder that!
