it’s wednesday, may 13, & moon is in the starspace called shravana, which occupies a sky-slice of capricorn. as i mentioned yesterday, capricorn is ruled by saturn. what i didn’t mention was that saturn went retrograde a couple of days ago & will continue his backward motion until the end of september. don’t freak out, retrograde is perfectly normal & saturn actually spends a third of the year reversing course.
so what does this mean for us now? saturn is about long-term commitments & focus. remember how i said yesterday that he plays the long game? well, when a planet goes retrograde it means it’s closer to us here on earth so it’s bringing its concerns front & center in our lives. which means we are being invited to reflect on—drumroll, please!—our long-term goals: are we focused enough on them? are they still in alignment with who we are & want to be? do we need to course correct? start pondering.
shravana is one of my favorite nakshatras, partly b/c i just love how it sounds when spoken. it comes from the sanskrit verb shru, which means to listen. this asterism invites us to fine-tune our sense of hearing so much that we can hear the voice within, so that we can hear the truth beating in our heart, the sound of god. kabir (pictured) sums it up best:
“if you want the truth,
i’ll tell you the truth:
listen to the secret sound,
the real sound,
which is inside you.”
it’s the seventh tithi (lunar phase), which is connected to lord indra, king of the gods, who had a good run but whose downfall was his pride. unless you want to take a fall, have your license pulled, like that restaurant in castle rock that thought (arrogantly, pridefully) it was a good idea to open to crowds for mother’s day, you’ll want to take the welfare of others into consideration as you roam your circumscribed kingdom today.
wednesday is mercury’s day. use his energy, which is really your energy, to deal with anything involving details, technology, information & communication, & do it with a spirit of fun, cause mercury doesn’t like to be too serious. it’s a perfect day to, say, go through those forty open browser windows & start closing some—what i’m the only one with a gazillion sites tabbed she thinks she’s going to re-look at?!
& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, please contact me for a session! ~.~
