it’s friday, may 13, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called chitra, & we are in the eclipse portal, which began with the solar eclipse in aries on april 30 & ends with the lunar eclipse in scorpio may 15-16. the perfectionista in us tends to come out in the environment of virgo, which has its upsides, like wanting to make our life run as smoothly & efficiently as possible, but the downside is that we see flaws everywhere we look, nothing is ever good enough. whichever area of life virgo rules, whichever house that sign occupies, is where you’ll feel nit-picky. how might it serve you to leave well enough alone, to not nit-pick to death? as my teacher sharon gannon says, “do your best & let god do the rest.”
eclipses are about bringing what’s been hiding in the dark out into the light, revealing shadows for all they’re worth. the nodes are the shadowy forces responsible for eclipses & are notorious for the way they confuse, obscure, throw up smoke & mirrors. so if you’ve been feeling that this week, as have i, then know that you’re not alone, & know that facing the hard stuff is what gives us clarity, burns away the fog, makes us stronger. as my astrology teacher, sam geppi, just said about the lunar eclipse in scorpio: “the world is here to break your heart. it’s what happens next that matters.” yeah, i know!
chitra is ruled by tvashtar (aka vishvakarma), the cosmic architect, who was responsible for such extraordinary creations as the pushpaka vimana in the ramayana, rama’s flying weaponized chariot. this asterism brings a lesson about aligning with our highest aesthetic ideals, chiseling away at our manifestations, as michelangelo chiseled away marble to reveal “david,” until the thing itself, in all its magnificence, is fully born, until what has lived only in our imagination comes to life.
it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waxing moon, which brings in the illumination & clarity of the sun. which, with all this pre-eclipse fog, is most welcome. allow your inner light to guide your way on.
