it’s monday, may 13, & moon is in the starspace of leo known as purva phalguni. “purva” meansdaily bliss prior, “phal” means fruit & “guni” means (good) qualities, like the gunas, if you’re familiar with that yogic term. the message here is that our good luck, the good qualities that we enjoy today, is a result of our past good deeds—this is how karma works: what you sow, so you reap; what you reap is what you’ve sown.

this fruit is literal, tangible fruit, as in the material good things in life—mango, sweet relationships—not the more elusive spiritual benefits (although if you’re feeling connected to your divinity today, no worries!). today is about enjoying those fruits, taking a break from your hard labors of ruling your kingdom. purva phalguni is considered the star of courtship, so, yeah, go on a date, be with the ones you love.

the ruling deity is bhaga, the god of good fortune & luck. bhaga is also a term for a woman’s womb, so there is a sense of great creative potential here. & leo is the fifth sign of the natural zodiac, which is connected to our heart’s desire. for those who are parents, it’s usually your children, but for artists it’s connected to whatever your medium is—to writing, painting, acting; leo is also the sign of the performer—the king or queen of the stage. hopefully what you love to do brings you joy!

today is the 10th tithi, or lunar day, which is connected to truth, dharma, to being in alignment, in harmony, with your truth. as mahatma gandhi said, “happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

& that’s your daily bliss—monday is ruled by the moon, so a great good day to go deeper into your heart.
