it’s tuesday, may 19, & moon is in the starspace called ashwini, which occupies the first sky-slice of aries & thus is the beginning of the beginning of the zodiac. aries is ruled by mars, who gives us the courage to begin, to venture forth, act, create, express ourselves in the world.
in “broken: a love story,” which is not about whitewater rafting, lisa jones recalls having to face her fear of rafting: “to begin a scary task is to be close to finishing it. in fact, beginning takes more courage than anything else, b/c once you make contact with the forces of nature, your most practical & clear-eyed self emerges.” feel free to replace “forces of nature” with “forces of your mind” & ask yourself, “if i wasn’t afraid, what would i venture to do?” & then dip your toes in the water & see if your clear-eyed self doesn’t emerge. you will then be that much closer to completing your task or project.
the symbol for ashwini is a horse’s head, which is, you could say, where it begins. its head is way in front of its feet, which is why in horse racing (which i don’t condone), a horse can win by a nose. also in horse racing, or riding in general, you have to learn when to give your horse his/her/their head & when to rein him/her/them in. today would be a good day to give yourself your head, let your spirit & physical prowess express themselves maximally.
it’s the thirteenth tithi (lunar phase), which is connected to kamadeva, the hindu equivalent of cupid. it’s a good day to feel love’s arrow, a good day to enjoy being with friends, a good day to, say, social-distance dinner-picnic in the park, which is what i did sunday night & it was still deeeeelightful!
tuesday is ruled by mars, so take in all of the previous & use your mars energy wisely—think before you act, which can be a challenge for the mars within.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
