it’s thursday, may 20, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni. the energy of leo is huge & so we want to feel into our bigness in the environment of this constellation, which is way better than feeling small & hiding our gifts, denying others in our kingdom what we have to offer. the key is to feel into our bigness through our connection to source, to the divine, which is so vast as to be unquantifiable, rather than to feel into our bigness through our ego.
as king dasharatha says to his son rama in “the ramayana”: “i have been a good king, my son. i have kept the lamps to the gods lit in my kingdom & in my heart.”
may we all keep the flame of the divine burning bright in our hearts & be the best kings & queens we can be!
purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, the god of good fortune, happiness, prosperity, love & lust, all of which bring blessings for a good marriage & is why this asterism is considered auspicious for marriage. the invitation here is to take a timeout from our spiritual efforts & enjoy (while not attaching to it, of course!) the good fortune we have acquired as a result.
it’s the ninth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to serpent energy. serpents both contain poison & are harbingers of wisdom. they secrete themselves in dark crevices, as do our own toxic thoughts & emotions. if we dare to shine a flashlight into our shadow, own what we find there & challenge its presence, we can transform it into wisdom: in darkness is the potential for light.
thursday is jupiter’s day. jupiter’s sanskrit name is guru. guru is the principle that EVERYTHING in our life is an opportunity for us to evolve toward our highest expression of self. just as we embody the essence of each planet, guru is an inside job—in the beginning we look outside, to others, to show us the way, guide us, provide teachings, but eventually we realize that we’re the ones we have been waiting for, that we are our own guides & can see the teachings surrounding us without anyone else pointing them out.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
