it’s monday, may 20, & moon is in the starspace of scorpio known as jyestha. “jyestha” means

daily bliss

(courtesy the new yorker)

eldest; here it refers to the eldest sister, who is respected like a second mother. of course with respect comes responsibility, as any eldest sister/sibling will tell you! the middle finger is also used in pranayama (breathing practice) to control the flow of breath & thus prana (vital energy).

jyestha is ruled by indra, the god of all gods. he (sorry for the masculine pronoun, but it’s just so much easier sometimes!) rules from above, but doesn’t lord it over the “lesser” gods, mere mortals, but rather brings perspective. this energy is about seeing what is true & embodying it, about living your truth, standing in your autonomy. it’s about having distance from your small-minded emotions—blame, projection, “i am not worthy.” it’s about showing your super ego the hand, telling it to shut the “f” up (that middle finger can be used for more than just pranayama!), stop raining on your parade. can you look down, like the anteaters in the new yorker cartoon i’m sharing & see how certain thoughts are really small & keeping you small? can you take responsibility for them & for seeing them for what they are? so this is a good day to be above it all.

indra is also the lord of the senses, so be mindful of what you consume with your ears & eyes & hands & mouth, etc. not just today, but always. does reading one more news item about you-know-who’s latest tweet really serve you, really feed your embodiment of your authenticity? does eating ice cream for dinner or watching a violent movie really nourish your soul? the message is not about asceticism, about abstinence from the good things in life, but about not letting them control you, pull you off track. you can have it all—meditation & ice cream (nondairy of course!)—as long as you’re the one in control, as long as you take responsibility for what you rule over, which is your life.

& that’s your daily bliss—moon moves from scorpio into sagittarius midafternoon mountain time today & there is empty starspace around that border, no bridge, so mind the gap, mind your mind, which will be unsupported for a few hours.

p.s. jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine a little more light on who you are & what you are doing here, on your life, i’d love to support you with a session. contact me!
