it’s friday, may 24, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. scorpio vibrates with the frequency of uncertainty, of what we can’t control, which you probs know by now is not very much. we can control what we do, not how it’s received. we can control, if we are aware enough, how we respond to what shows up in our life. & the rest? not so much! which, think about it, means we live more in uncertainty than in certainty. “the quality of your life is in direct proportion to the amount of uncertainty you can comfortably live with,” says personal growth guru tony robbins. or, as pema chödrön famously says, our work is to be comfortable with discomfort. b/c, ya know, it’s not all unicorns & butterflies & rainbows all the time, life does not unfold as smoothly as we plan or desire. how do you roll when someone or something puts a spoke in your wheel?
jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, once an elder among the gods. anyone who is an eldest child knows how much responsibility comes with that role, to take care of & be an example for younger siblings, which sometimes is done with love, sometimes with resentment, sometimes with self-importance. this asterism brings a lesson about being responsible without lording it over others, without getting power-crazy & all up in our heads about it. pride was indra’s downfall.
it’s the second lunar day (tithi), the second phase of the waning moon, which is, interestingly, associated with the quality of pride—enough to give us the confidence to carry out our full moon intentions but not so much as to make us arrogant, boastful.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of our earthly beingness, of the pleasures brought to us—live!—by our senses, & is hanging out for a while longer in his home sign of taurus, where our earthly comfort is king—or queen, or queeng. venus is also hanging out too close to the sun right now, so we may have a tendency to overindulge, so let’s do honor venus—go for a hike, dig in the garden, listen to music, make art, eat chocolate, have sex, whip up a deeelicious dinner for dear ones—without going overboard.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
