it’s wednesday, may 26, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called anuradha, where the lunar eclipse occurred just before dawn, until midday, then moves into jyeshtha. scorpio is a water sign, which means its energy is of the emotional kind, & it is tamasic, which means its energy is also fear-based. this is where the inner critic or wounded self lives. they just want to protect us, keep us safe, prevent us from getting hurt. they mean well, but they don’t go about their business in the most uplifting or supportive way! rather than get sucked beneath the surface by their subversive undertow, if you stare them down & ask them what they want you to know, you can defuse them, thank them & send them on their way.

anuradha invites us to engage in the world through love & devotion—yesss, we can even love our inner critic/wounded self!—that love is god medicine, as ram dass has said. jyeshtha invites us to be our best, most responsible selves in service to others. the bhagavad gita teaches that “a great person”—a jyeshtha—”leads by example, setting standards that are followed by others all over the world.” (III.21) we all set examples by our behavior & by doing so give others permission to do the same. the question is whether we are setting the best examples possible & therefore giving other people permission to likewise be their best selves as well.

it’s the first phase of the waning moon, & we are probably still a little hungover from the big energy of the full moon eclipse, & with what arose & might still be arising, slowly letting go of all that. that’s how we roll some days.

wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us our ability to tell stories, about ourselves & others, & also the discriminating intelligence to figure out what’s true & what isn’t. under the sway of scorpio our imagination can go nuclear, so if you’ve been captivated by your own fantastical scenarios, today would be a good day to unpack them & set yourself straight, reconnect to reality.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
