it’s tuesday, may 28, & moon is in the starspace of pisces known as uttarabhadra, which is the complement to yesterday’s purvabhadra, just as sun complements moon, heat cold, light darkness, fire water, masculine feminine, the lion the cow. moon is now in the deeeeeep spiritual waters of pisces & this starspace (aka nakshatra or asterism) is ruled by ahir budhnya.
ahir budhnya, like yesterday’s deity, aja ekapada, is a rudra, but ahir is a deep ocean snake. he represents our merging into the sea of eternity. but this snake/serpent doesn’t stay in the depths; he needs to come up for air eventually. snakes/serpents = wisdom & the message here is that after we do the deep dive into our practices, touch truth, we have to come back into the world, to share that truth & inspire/teach/influence others by living it.
in episode 502 of the buddha at the gas pump podcast, consciousness researcher chris bache says: “if we have temporary experience of infinity, it leaves a lasting impression even when we are back to being a finite being. & if we have temporary experience of infinite love, all-embracing, all-inclusive, & a love that transcends species & reaches out to the molecules of existence … then when we congeal back into our ordinary time-space suit, it has an effect, a profound effect.”
“ahi” means both a cow & a snake (go figure!). snakes show us how to deal with our mental poisons, cows how to nurture & care for others, for the world we live in. the energy of this nakshatra invites us to strengthen the psychological pathologies of mind so that we can find more compassion, more empathy, for all beings everywhere.
it’s the tenth phase of the waning moon, which has to do with truthful actions that lead us back to our soul’s purpose. (yeah, a big day!)
