it’s friday, may 29, & moon is in the starspace called magha, which occupies the first sky-slice of leo. leo is the lion, the king of the jungle, & is ruled by the sun, the planet of individuality & individual importance—one lion, one jungle. each sign expresses a spectrum of energy, from least intelligent to most. the highest intelligence of leo is expressed by the lion who looks after his pride, the king who looks after his kingdom, who serves rather than is served. the most unevolved expression of leonine energy is the king who thinks his subjects are there to fulfill his every desire & never question his actions. paramahansa yogananda & our narcissistic destroyer-in-chief, leos both, represent the very high & the very low on the spectrum. go high today!
magha is ruled by the pitris, the ancestors. the reminder of this nakshatra is to remember the ancestors. when we remember them, honor them, we are reminded that we are them & re-member ourselves, acknowledge the pieces that make us whole: the part of us that is our father or our mother; the part of us that comes from that buddhist lama or our yoga teacher. if we’re an artist it might be that the way we hold a brush or use a piece of charcoal has been passed down to us from a mentor; if a writer, maybe we’ve absorbed the technique of a writer who went before & made a magic we revere & try to emulate. we did not get to be who we are all by ourselves.
it’s the eighth lunar day, which supports us in tapping into what we value & manifesting, creating, from there. would you want to create from a place of not caring? of not being in integrity? i don’t think so.
friday is owned by venus, the pleasure principle, which is why friday is such a good night for dates … or was in the “before” times. i’m heading out for a long hike with a good friend today, which is another very venusian way to spend time—seeking beauty & a beautiful experience in nature with the people we care about.
