it’s thursday, may 2, & moon is in aquarius, in the starspace called dhanishtha. while capricorn invites us to take our personal life goals seriously, aquarius invites us to expand that seriousness out into the goals for our neighborhood, city, state, country, the whole planet—to be the change we want to see in the world. “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world,” said margaret mead. “indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” regardless of where you stand on the protests in full swing on our college campuses now, peaceful protests have long been a powerful way to foment change: which see, the antiwar protests during the vietnam war; rosa parks’s refusal to sit in the back of the bus, which launched the civil rights movement; gandhi’s nonviolent acts of noncompliance to british authority, which led to india’s independence.

dhanishtha brings a lesson about what true wealth means. “if you want to know how rich you are,” goes one proverb, “try to find how many things you have that money cannot buy.” what makes you feel abundant—people, wisdom, experiences, freedom, creativity? how full are your coffers? how many reasons do you have to be thankful, grateful?

it’s the ninth lunar day (tithi), the ninth phase of the waning moon, which supports us in transforming toxicity into, well, the wealth of insights that lead to wisdom. in “the journey within,” a survivor of gut-wrenching childhood poverty & later domestic abuse, who turned her life inside out by becoming the protector of children, becoming known as “a mother of orphans,” says: “when difficulties come we should stand & rise above them so they look small. don’t be afraid to go ahead & fight,” adding: “my life was full of thorns, so i made friends with those thorns, & my life became simple & beautiful.” what insights can you wrest from the negative beliefs/ tendencies/people/emotions/situations in your life by embracing them, owning them, dethorning them?

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who just moved into taurus, bringing wisdom, hope, inspiration & abundance to the realm of our creature comforts for the next dang year! (natch there will be a slightly different emphasis for each of us depending on which house taurus represents in our charts.) you can light a lamp or candle in the east in your home if you need help feeling into jupiter’s gifts.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
