it’s thursday, may 5, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra. in the environment of gemini, we want to explore new ideas & interests & share our enthusiasm for them with others, either by inviting them to join in or by communicating what we discover to them. & gemini wants us to have fun doing so, b/c if we’re not having fun, our enthusiasm isn’t going to last. do you feel me? what new prospect lights you up? what ideas are so exciting that you just can’t wait to share them?
ardra occupies space in the constellation of orion where the giant red star betelgeuse shines as one of the brightest stars in the night sky. betelgeuse is considered, in the annals of vedic lore, to be the abode of the storm god rudra, the fierce form of shiva—as if shiva weren’t fierce enough! rudra is kind of like pre-tough-love shiva—all tough, no love. storms imply moisture, wetness, & ardra brings a lesson about the cleansing power of storms, whether external (like literal rainstorms) or internal (like emotional storms). just as a good bout of rain washes away impurities in the air, leaves the world sparkling in its wake, so a good, solid cry leaves us sparkling. ardra reminds us that our momentary pain & suffering will be rewarded, that it has a purpose, but, alas, ruling deity rudra isn’t going to hold loving space for us, comfort us, so good thing …
… it’s the fifth lunar day, the fifth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to goddess energy, to healing & soothing & nourishing & creating. it’s a good day to self-soothe & soothe others by staying connected to our heart.
thursday is owned by jupiter, planet of our hopes & beliefs. we all have beliefs & they’re as different as each of us. if we want others to respect ours, we get to respect theirs, accept their right to believe what they do. if we’re going to create the better world we all (hopefully!!!) want to see, we are going to have to come together, dissolve boundaries, the illusion of separation. tolerance is the key to unity, to no separation. is being tolerant of others & what they believe so hard?
