it’s friday, may 6, & moon moves from gemini into cancer around dinnertime (for us early-side diners in the rockies) while being supported & transported throughout the day by the starspace called punarvasu. whereas gemini vibrates with the frequency of mental energy, cancer vibrates with the frequency of heart energy, of the divine mother, which is so lovely & perfect for mother’s day weekend.

“the divine mother is the love behind life’s energy that pulsates inside & outside us. … she is the body of all creation. the divine mother breathes us, & we are her breath. …

“she is manifest in everything. … she can be divine mother the nurturer. she can be kali ma, the creator & destroyer. she can be sarasvati, the mistress of detail. & she can be lakshmi, the abundance of life.”—bhagavan das

it’s going to be a great, good weekend to celebrate mother in all of her manifestations. jai ma!

punarvasu is ruled by aditi, whose name means “boundless.” boundless like space, she is the matrix within which everything exists, & thus the womb of the world, which is why she is considered the universal mother, the source of all life. “punarvasu” means the return (punar) of the light (vasu). the vasus are aditi’s children, the luminous demigods, like goodness, prosperity & strength. this asterism brings a lesson about creating a unified field through motherly love, boundlessly embracing one & all with our good qualities, which we can do, regardless of gender or identity.

it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waxing moon, so we get to celebrate our victories, big & small, the wins that we won just by being & trusting, with our ego well in check.

friday is ruled by venus, planet of love, of which there are myriad varieties, all of which, ideally, the basis for all of our relationships. “care,” as radhanath swami, says, “is the symptom of love.” we generally think of a symptom as a negative, in terms of indicating a disease, for example, but essentially a symptom is, according to webster’s, just “something that indicates the presence of something else.” so if we care about someone that’s an indication, in case we need one, in case we aren’t sure, that we love them. who do you care about? who do you love? & do you show your love by caring?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
