it’s wednesday, november 19, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called viśakhā, which will support & transport moon as it travels into scorpio midafternoon. scorpio, where mars & mercury are already dwelling, will be hosting the new moon, in the starspace called anurādhā. not only that, but we’ve got three planets retrograde in water signs: jupiter in cancer, mercury in scorpio & saturn in pisces—thank the goddess that an exalted jupiter will be shining his grace & wisdom on moon-merc-ma & saturn! let’s unpack all that. …

moon’s move from libra into scorpio is one from relationship highs to emotional lows; for scorpio is where moon is least happy, acts with the least intelligence, succumbs to psychic turbulence. scorpio is where our shadow comes out to play, where suppressed or repressed thoughts & feelings, unconscious commitments & patterns surface or resurface. & that’s a good thing … if we care about our spiritual evolution.

viśakhā unites the forces of indra (the king) & agni (the priest), willpower & inspiration, giving us the ability to achieve our goal(s).

anurādhā is the star of devotion & invites us to consider what & whom we are as loyal to as radha was to krishna, whether our devotion is conscious or not, automatic or intentional, whether it uplifts or not, sucks our energy or replenishes it. we might start with the obvious: our devotion to our phones!

water signs represent our emotional depths & moksha, liberation: with all the retrograde energy in water signs, it’s a potent time to plumb our depths—with compassion, with heart-centeredness—for the sake of our transformation, healing, liberation.

speaking of our spiritual evolution: at the height of the new moon, sun, moon & mercury will be dwelling in the portion of the D20 chart (the chart of spiritual evolution) ruled by goddess chinnamasta, who famously cut off her own head. but she didn’t die! the blood spurting forth from her neck nourished not only others but herself, actually rejuvenated her.

mars, in his home sign of scorpio, amplifies the fire of transformation, gives us the courage to digest & destroy thoughts & beliefs that serve our ego, not our soul, to release our attachment to the familiar, to the monster we know, & be open to the mystery, to what we don’t know, to something new.

what gets to go?!

anurādhā’s symbol is the lotus: may we all rise from the mud & muck of our fears & attachments, insecurities & inhibitions, limiting beliefs & negative tendencies so we can blossom like the magnificent lotuses we all are!
