it’s friday, september 12, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called kṛttikā. taurus vibrates with the frequency of our comfort zone, our security zone. taurus is where we succumb to the illusion (spoiler alert!) that we can create a fortress with the stuff of our material existence—with a good job, a house, vacations, eating out in restaurants, nice clothes—protect ourselves from anything that threatens our comfort, our sense of security. opposite taurus is scorpio, which is our discomfort zone; it’s where we feel most vulnerable, most out of control.
the invitation is not polarization, not one or the other, but harmony, both/&. the invitation is to, as pema chödrön says, be able to be comfortable with our discomfort, hold both simultaneously.
it means, for example, to not be babies if we hear or read something that offends us, to not expect the government to protect us, censor media to spare our vulnerability, our discomfort.
are we not adults? do we need or want the government to decide what we should be exposed to?
kṛttikā is ruled by agni, sacred fire, & has the power to burn & purify, to burn away negativity. agni is also the fire that cooks our food, so there is a sense of nourishment with this asterism, for don’t we feel nourished after, say, we have purified ourselves with an ayurvedic cleanse or meditation retreat?
“let yourself be fire & let the ashes be nourishment for the soil of your own becoming.”—zach bush
it’s the sixth lunar day (tithi), the sixth phase of the waning moon, which supports us in turning our dream into something tangible, helps us overcome (burn away—this tithi is also ruled by agni!) negativity preventing us from doing so.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of love & art, diplomacy & harmony. she builds bridges rather than destroying them, brings people together rather than pushing them further apart, as, in the wake of charlie kirk’s assassination, the president & many prominent people, on both sides, are by lobbing blame, accusations, violent rhetoric, calling for censorship. charlie would have been horrified by all this being done in his name—it was anathema to everything he stood for.
“when people stop talking, that’s when you get violence,” charlie said.
in response to the death of the two people killed outside the jewish museum in DC in may, he posted on X: “their murder was senseless, evil, & horrifying, & the man who did it should be punished to the maximum extent possible. …
“i see claims that some people have ‘blood on their hands,’ simply b/c they’ve made tweets attacking benjamin netanyahu, the israeli government, or the war in gaza.
“no.”
venus is traversing the treacherous juncture between watery cancer & fiery leo. water + fire creates steam, prevents us from seeing clearly, prevents us from properly processing emotions, encourages acting or speaking out from anger rather than from the intention to understand & resolve differences.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
