what to know so you can align with today’s energy from a vedic (not western/tropical) astrology point of view: it’s monday, july 27, moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called pūrvāṣāḍhā, it’s the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon & moon’s day.

sagittarius …

… is ruled by wise, hopeful & big-minded jupiter, who is in cancer, his sign of exaltation, bringing max hope, max wsidom. sag invites us to zoom out, pull back, so we can see the big picture, not sweat the small stuff, be wise, not otherwise.

one of my dearest friends has been butting heads with her recalcitrant daughter in recent years. rather than continuing to butt, she has pulled back. she has seen how her own, once fraught, relationship with her father has mellowed into a sweet & loving one over the years. she is big minded enough, mature enough, patient enough to wait for the fraught sitch with her daughter to pass.

how can you see bigly, be bigly minded, be, well, just bigly?

pūrvāṣāḍhā …

… pūrvāṣāḍhā (i have no idea what’s going on with the heading font!) means “early victory” or “that which cannot be subdued” & is ruled by apah devi, an obscure water goddess associated with saraswati. the embodiment of all the arts & all knowledge, she is the deep, sacred current that flows within us, is the essence of our own wisdom & inspiration.

apah devi reminds us of the thing, the deep current, that will not be subdued, that we really really really really really want to get done—make, do, be—in this lifetime. she invigorates, urges, inspires.

what is that thing that keeps nudging you, calling to you from your depths, that refuses to be ignored, that will not let you rest until you bring it to the surface, make it visible?

can you tap into the flow of creativity & wisdom within you?

the fourteenth lunar day …

… the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, means we’ve got a full moon on the horizon (wednesday morning), so it’s a good time to ponder what your new moon intention was (if you had one) & what needs to go, what needs to come so you can fulfill it.

this tithi is the fiercest of all the lunar days, as we feel full to bursting emotionally, want to release energy as moon reaches its climax.

the shadow side of this tithi is intense longing/craving, which can become anger, impatience, frustration.

all of which is why turning inward, stepping away from worldly concerns, from the pull of others, can be the mature, the nourishing way to go.

moon …

… wants everyone to be happy, wants to nourish & connect with everyone, which comes from its watery nature. water = emotions & since the fourteenth tithi is also watery, emotions could run high, could overflow our banks. it’s important to be able to step back a bit, stand on dry ground, ground ourselves.

standing poses in yoga are one way to ground. what’s your favorite way to ground?

the daily bliss is 100% human generated! the act of creation is intrinsic to being human—when we give up our agency to create, we cease, little by little, to be fully human.

may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little (or a lot!) more bliss in your life.
