the shakti of ardra is fierce & stormy & this asterism is ruled by rudra & symbolized by a teardrop. rudra is a form of shiva, the god of transformation, & means “he who cries.” rudra brings change, often unwelcome, unexpected, like fires & hurricanes & other natural disasters, but these storms can also be mental/spiritual/emotional & tears are a natural byproduct of unwelcome change. but you know what “they” say: no pain, no gain! some people even invite the pain/the changes b/c the more we endure the faster we evolve.
it’s the fourth phase of the waning moon, which is related to lord ganesh & lord yama, the gods of obstacles & death. yikes, that sounds serious! just remember that ganesh puts obstacles before us & also removes them, that he gives us obstacles to overcome not as some cosmic joke but to challenge us so we can evolve (no pain, no gain seems to be the theme of the day!), & that death just = endings/transformation & that something has to end for something else to begin. which means that death/change, like an obstacle, is also a gift.
friday is ruled by venus, which is why friday is perfect for date night—with yourself or another or others. it’s perfect for feeling the blessings of being a spiritual being in a physical body, indulging your senses.
note: tomorrow is sankranti, the day sun moves into a new sign (&, oh, i, who am ruled by the sun, can’t wait for him to leave his sign of debilitation!). sun is our power pack, our soul(ar) battery, & it takes him a day to feel settled, get himself organized. which means we usually don’t feel fully charged, so it’s a good day to cut yourself some slack, even take the day off if you can.
