it’s sunday, november 17, & moon is in the starspace called pushya, which is in cancer. moon moved into cancer early this morning while most of us were still enjoying the dream state, which i was, until my boy kitty, bhakti, woke me, b/c he seems to vibe with brahma muhurtha, that auspicious time way before sunrise. not that he practices meditation then, but i do think that’s when he communes with the spirit world, b/c that’s when the veil is thin between the worlds & why meditation & other yogic practices are so potent then. anyhoo … yeah, cancer. cancer is where, after being all up in our heads & chasing after stimulation in gemini, we realize that all of that doesn’t matter if it’s not connected to our heart, which is another way of saying that it has to nourish us on a soul level.
speaking of the heart & what nourishes, pushya is the ur nourisher, but so is punarvasu, & you’ll be hearing about the latter today b/c i screwed up: moon was in punarvasu when i wrote this & i was under that asterism’s sway! it’s all good in my book: yes, each asterism infuses the day with its particular shakti, but the spiritual messages of the asterisms can be incorporated any day!
punarvasu is ruled by the deity aditi, who is nothing less than the divine mother, the embodiment of unconditional love. she is the mother of the universe & the life-giving force of nature. she is shakti, the principle of the divine feminine. she is all that is good & all that is, for love is the creative force of the universe, & is unbounded, ecstatically abundant. aditi showers us with her love so that we can in turn shower others with love. need a love shower today? does someone you know need one? aditi is always there for you & you have the shakti of aditi within you as well.

it’s the sixth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to lord subramanya (aka karthikeya), son of shiva & parvati (& bro to ganesha), whose dharma was to destroy the demon taraksura. of course we know that the only demons that exist are our negative thoughts & tendencies, so today is a good day to do battle with ours & then celebrate our victories.
sunday is the sun’s day, & sun is now out of his sign of debilitation (libra) & has moved into scorpio. the sun is our sense of identity of personal power, so many of us have been feeling perhaps a little insecure or like we’ve hitting a brick wall in terms of expressing our identity. for those of us ruled by the sun (i’m talking to you, fellow leos!), it has been a particularly frustrating month & i am sooooooo ready to do a happy dance!
