it’s friday, november 18, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni until later morning, then moves into uttaraphalguni, which will support & transport moon into virgo later this afternoon. which means we’ve still got most of the day to feel into our sovereignty, feel like powerhouses, shine like diamonds in the sun, as girish sings. but diamonds need polishing & our castles need dusting, our official documents filed away, so we’ll be stepping down off our thrones over the weekend, even getting down on our hands & knees if necessary, to pay attention to the less-sexy (unless, of course, you’re a virgo, for whom cleaning & scrubbing & organizing are almost aphrodisiacs!) but very necessary details that keep our kingdoms running smoothly.
purvaphalguni (see yesterday’s post for more) & uttaraphalguni, are connected, as you might imagine—both are represented by a bed, but purva’s bed is a bed for relaxing or playing, uttara’s for getting serious about commitment. for while purva is associated with bhaga, the god of delight, uttara is associated with aryaman, the god of contracts, of agreements made in love for the love of both parties. uttara brings a lesson about the blessings (uttara = latter, phalguni = fruits/blessings) everyone receives when we do so, when we honor what’s loving for us & loving for the other.
it’s the tenth lunar day, the tenth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to dharma, living in right alignment with the universe & with ourselves. we each have a dharmic path unique to each of us—there’s only one of me, one of you. the bhagavad gita (chapter 18, verse 47) tells us that it is better to do our own dharma, even though imperfectly, than to do another’s dharma, even though perfectly. or, as don miguel ruiz puts it, “you don’t have to try to be good; you just need to stop pretending to be what you are not.” as in, living up to the expectations of others—your parents, partner, society. you get to, it’s your duty to, do you 100 percent 100 percent of the time.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of passion, who invites us to pursue our passions, open our hearts, to love like we’re going to die. b/c, guess what? we will.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
