it’s tuesday, november 19, & moon is in the starspace called magha, which occupies the first sky-slice of leo. leo is ruled by the sun, which purifies & brings illumination to our personal identity, shines a light on our soul’s purpose. we want to shine & deserve to shine—we just have to make sure that we use our light to help others shine rather than singe them with its heat. our purpose in stepping into our own light, in stepping into our bigness, is to inspire others to do the same—that’s the magnanimity of leo; in fact, we become brighter as others do—there is plenty of light to go around & the world needs all of it; there’s plenty of room for all of us to be big.
magha is ruled by the pitris, the ancestors, who are there to support us, to guide us on our journey. we would not be who we are without those who have come before us and whose lives gave shape to ours. remembering & honoring & worshipping our ancestors keeps us humble as it reminds us that we are connected to something larger than ourselves. just as the planets are incarnations of vishnu & thus are him, so we are our ancestors. in fact, the brihad aranyaka says that the pitris are nothing less than previous incarnations of our soul—our forebears are us, we are our forebears. in this way the wisdom of the ages lives in us & by remaining humble we can receive it—you might call that accumulated wisdom intuition. so if you need guidance just ask your ancestors & listen closely.
it’s the eighth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to the eight vasus (three gunas & five elements)—the creative forces of life, which give us what we need. we create based on what we value. what do you value? what do you need versus want? what is worth expending your creative energy on … for the long run?
tuesday is owned by mars, who is an expression of our passionate & courageous & willful nature. mars likes a good fight, but right now he’s in libra, which is owned by venus, who likes compromise, so that energy might be feeling a little stymied—which can be a good thing.
