it’s wednesday, november 1, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called mrigashira, which straddles taurus & gemini. while taurus vibrates with the frequency of grounding & being comfortable, gemini vibrates with the frequency of wanting to move & explore, physically or mentally, & do so playfully, with childlike curiosity, no preconceptions, no agenda except satisfying that curiosity.
mrigashira is the wandering deer, who in taurus wanders in search of sensual delights, like its fave apples now that it’s fall, & in gemini more intellectual &, ultimately, metaphysical delights. for this asterism is ruled by soma, the nectar that makes us feel goooood in our body & consciousness. soma granted immortality to the gods, but/& we can experience a taste of it in the heightened pleasure we get from food, people, art, ideas & our practices. & what is immortality but the feeling of being one with all that is, unconfined by our physical, mortal beingness? what does that for you?
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase (tithi) of the waning moon, which is ruled by mercury (like gemini) & is said to be the birth tithi of ganesh. mercury (especially b/c he’s combust) creates a busy, maybe buzzy, mind awash with thoughts. ganesh, lord of obstacles, was born from the dirty remains of his mom’s bath & had a huge head (also a huge belly—he loved his sweets!), reminding us that the dirt of our mind is our biggest obstacle. just as he was beheaded, we, too, must rid ourselves of the obstacles created by our intellect, get past it. it’s a good day for a mind-set reboot!
wednesday is ruled by mercury (so, yes, lots of mercurial influence today!), the part of us that forms opinions. it’s also the part of us that keeps an open mind, is able to receive new intel & adjust our opinions accordingly, that is able to see nuance rather than just black & white. with mercury combust now (i.e., hanging out too close to the sun & feeling sun’s heat), there is a whole lot of “it’s either my way or the highway” now, people are polarized in their opinions, unable to listen to & hear anything beyond the voice inside their own head, & are lashing out, creating even more polarization, more binary thinking. but we can do better, can’t we?
