daily blissit’s friday (again!), november 22, & moon is in the starspace called hasta, which is a sky-slice of virgo. virgo reveals all that isn’t perfect in our world, invites us to fix that, to make sure all our i’s are dotted, all our t’s are crossed. of course no matter how hard we try to make our worlds perfect, we are frustrated—we put a finger in a dike one place & water sprouts out of hole somewhere else. all we can do is our best & accept the inevitability of imperfection.

hasta means “hand” & is ruled by savitar, who is a form of the sun. the sun shines a light on our consciousness, bringing insight, & savitar gives us an interest in expanding consciousness, perhaps through occult sciences like astrology & palmistry—i mean it doesn’t get more literal than wisdom from the hand! we can make magic with the hands, through healing modalities & by bringing our visions into manifestation. the key is to remember that we are not the doers, that we are the vehicles, that we open our hands to receive the grace of god (however you think of god) so that “his” (sorry for the masculine pronoun!) will can be done.

savitar is associated with the gayatri mantra & you can invoke hasta’s magic by invoking savitar through that mantra.

it’s the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which, if you’re a super-serious yogi, is a day for fasting, or definitely eating less. which is one way of recommitting to our spiritual practices, a reminder, twice a month, to reconnect to asana & meditation & chanting or whatever it is that grounds you spiritually, that you mean to be a daily practice but sometimes becomes less daily, b/c, well, life.

friday is ruled by venus. venus represents the part of our consciousness that wants to enjoy life, the pleasures of embodied existence—food, sex, bubble baths, movies, walks on the beach, whatever floats your sensual/sensory boat. venus is, however, now in sagittarius, which is ruled by jupiter, who represents the part of our consciousness that knows there is more to life than what we can experience with our physical bodies & is searching for more meaning. so you may be feeling at cross purposes right now—wanting to fulfill your desires & simultaneously thinking, what’s the point? i invite you to find your joy today, fill your cup—who knows, you might find the meaning of life while walking on the beach at sunset!

& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, contact me for a session! ~.~
