it’s thursday, november 23, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called revati. pisces vibrates with the frequency of nirvana, a destination—spoiler alert!—most of us are not going to reach in this lifetime. but/& it’s also where we are invited into the experience of the highest in our daily life, to find the sacred in the secular. this is the practice of tantra & which is, imo, what leonard cohen’s life & art were about & which he expressed in the song “hallelujah.” how do you experience “hallelujah” moments? how can you experience the divine in the everyday, strike that secret chord? maybe listening to your fave version of that classic (leonard’s? john cale‘s? jeff buckley‘s? kd lang‘s?) will inspire you upward.
revati is ruled by pushan, the cosmic shepherd. may we heed master shantideva‘s words: “may i be a protector for those without protection / and a guide for those who are traveling. / may i become a ship, a bridge, and a passageway / for those trying to get to the far shore. / may i be a lamp for those who need light to see, / a bed for those who need a place to rest, /and a server for all those who need someone to serve them. … / may i in various ways / be the sustenance for all living beings throughout space, / until they enter nirvana.”
it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which is the best tithi for spiritual practices, like, um, fasting, but also gratitude. maybe not the best day for fasting but def a good one for gratitude—& maybe we can refrain from double-dosing on pie?!
thursday, like pisces, is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru, the one who connects us to god, to the divine, to our divine nature, to the benevolence of the universe, which comes through grace. we might say that grace happens when opportunity meets preparation. “if the striving is deep enough or if the grace of the host is turned toward the seeking guest, then suddenly the inner door flies open and … the soul finds himself at that banquet table,” cohen, who knew from grace, said. if you want to see grace in action, watch the netflix biopic about him with friends & family today instead of football.
hallelujah, you all!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
