it’s thursday, november 24, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. in the environment of scorpio, the struggle is real. the struggle is between heart & head, between surrender & ego, between trust & control, between pure love & our emotions. our emotions are driven by our desires, which come from our ego, the part of us that thinks it can control everyone & everything. the truth is that we have very little, if any, control over most aspects of our life, & certainly over our people. & the sooner we drop into that knowing, the sooner we trust the power of pure love, which comes from our connection to the divine, the sooner we will be able to transform our insecurities, realize that rather than detract from our beauty, they actually enhance it, rather than diminish us they actually strengthen us.
in “the glass castle,” jeannette walls’s crazy-ass memoir about her beyond-dysfunctional family, she writes, “it’s the joshua tree’s struggle that gives it its beauty.”
speaking of ego, jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, who was considered an elder & who is famously, or infamously, known for his reputation as a protector being spoiled by his big, fat ego. this asterism brings a lesson about being elders with humility, taking responsibility for those under our care with love & compassion not to gain anything.

it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waxing moon, which is ruled by brahma, the creator of all that is. it’s a good day to create on a big or small scale—maybe that’s a whole thanksgiving feast, maybe just dessert.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is “guru.” guru is the one who connects us to the mystery of our vast inner space journey. “we have forgotten the fact that our inner space journey is more important than our outer space journey,” said shri brahmananda sarasvati. guru comes in many forms—people, events, wisdom teachers & teachings, animals. our mission is to see the guru externally as the means to deepen our awareness of the guru within.
