it’s monday, november 28, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace called shravana. saturn-ruled capricorn vibrates with the frequency of getting serious about our lives, of transmuting the inspiration of sagittarius into action, into forward motion. in the environment of capricorn we are reminded that time is finite, that we each get only so many grains of sand in our hourglass, that, as the rolling stones sang, “time waits for no one, & it won’t wait for me.” & while saturn can thus make us fearful about the future, we are also reminded, as sri ramana maharshi counseled, that “if we take care of the present, the future will take care of itself.” what positive action steps can you take today, take care of your present & thus your future?

shravana brings a lesson about pratyahara, drawing our senses inward & getting so quiet that we can hear the music within, the nada, the vibration of the universe, the sound of [fill in the blank].

“the deeper the meditator reaches into inner space in quality & quantity, the more the outer universe, the universe of the senses, becomes satyam shivan sundaram, that is, truthful, blissful & beautiful, & the nada meditation becomes effortless, automatic & independent.”—shri brahmananda sarasvati

how quiet can you get? what do you hear?

it’s the sixth lunar day, the sixth phase of the waxing moon, which is related to kartikeya, shiva & parvati’s younger son & ganesh’s little bro. kartikeya was a precocious warrior, famous for conquering demons at a very young age. it’s a good day to celebrate our own victories, especially but not necessarily the ones over our own demons, our own limiting beliefs, our own self-judgments. big or small, they all add up, remind us that we are making progress, which encourages us to keep on keeping on.

monday is ruled by the moon, which, as you know, waxes & wanes a bit every day, is never the same way twice, & is our feeling nature, which is part of the reason, or a big reason, we feel different from day to day or, um, from one hour to the next. ultimately moon wants to feel content, but in the meanwhile we constantly rotate through happy, sad, meh, trying to find equilibrium, that sweet spot, that sense of sukha.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
