it’s wednesday, november 29, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra. after spending time in earthbound taurus, airy gemini brings, well, a breath of fresh air. gemini invites us to indulge our curiosity, for it vibrates with the frequency of exploration—intellectual, creative, social. as the third sign of the natural zodiac, it is associated with the ego, for it is by trying new things that we figure out what we like & who we are. it’s where we test ourselves against others on various fields of competition & compare ourselves to them, define & differentiate ourselves. it’s where we discover, for example, that we suck at soccer but love literature & are good at writing, & that fortunately we hate soccer & love to write.
“one thing is certain: you can never become anything other than yourself, & unless you become yourself you cannot be happy.”—osho
we are, hopefully, always trying new things, forever refining ourselves, forever becoming more ourselves. we are never done! as a downhiller, i once said, “i’ll never telemark,” but guess what? i eventually discovered—my curiosity & competitive spirit goaded me—that i LOVE tele, that it’s way more fun than ordinary downhill skiing. i still say i’ll never snowboard, but i’ve learned to never say never, so who knows? what new adventure or challenge are you up for?
ardra is ruled by rudra, shiva aspect as the thunder god. we all know that “thunder only happens when it’s raining,” right? so don’t be surprised if inner storms give way to tears. but/& tears, just like rain, are purifying—they wash away impurities, nourish the growth of something new.
it’s the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waning moon, which supports us, as a friend used to say, in keeping it going, like vishnu, the sustainer of the universe, in protecting & nourishing & creating harmony in our lives regardless of what life throws at us.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, planet of communication & discriminating intelligence. mercury loves technology but/& he likes to think for himself, so he can communicate effectively. “before we work on artificial intelligence,” he would say, “why don’t we do something about natural stupidity?” since mercury also owns gemini, it’s a double-good day to double-down on our intellectual capacities by feeding our mind, keeping it nourished.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
