it’s friday, november 29, & moon is in the starspace called purvashadha, which occupies a sky-slice of sagittarius. sagittarius is ruled by jupiter, the guru, & invites us to find the deeper meaning that a guru brings. it’s a good opportunity to connect or reconnect with teachers or teachings, to reignite our fire of inspiration, to step back & see the big picture, get back on track if we’ve taken an accidental (or, hey, maybe intentional) detour.
purvashadha means “that which cannot be subdued” & is ruled by apas, the water deity. yesterday we pulled up the weeds of our life (some of them anyway—a gardener’s work is never done!), which created space for new seeds to be planted. those seeds need to be nurtured with water. what will grow? do you ever put in your garden & not label the rows, thinking you’ll remember what you put where & then have the surprise of radishes coming up where you thought you planted beets?
we each have an essence, a gift (or gifts), that cannot be subdued, that must sprout & rise up like a seedling into whatever is meant to be, b/c it must be. a palm tree does not grow from an acorn. today we get an inkling of what that seed within us wants to be but might not be quite ready to embrace that truth. tomorrow, under the influence of the complementary nakshatra, uttarashadha, we’ll be ready to go for it, to own it.
it’s the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to both lord ganesha & lord yama, who represent obstacles (the former) & death/transformation (yama). a pearl doesn’t form without the oyster’s being irritated by sand. we don’t grow without being challenged. ganesha gifts us with obstacles to overcome & yama brings the transformation. if you’re feeling a little frustrated in your intentions today, try to transform that frustration into gratitude & see if that doesn’t get you over the hurdle more quickly, even easefully.
friday is ruled by venus, who just wants us to enjoy the 360-degree scope of embodied existence, especially as it relates to love & beauty. & with venus conjunct jupiter right now, all things venus are being intensified.
