it’s tuesday, november 2, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hasta. virgo vibrates with the frequency of perfectionism, of being super critical—of ourselves, of others, of our lives. virgo means well, just wants to protect us from disaster, doesn’t want us to be embarrassed, feel like a failure, but that can make us almost obsessive-compulsive. at some point we have to, get to, say, ok, that’s good enough. like writing this post every day, i give myself an hour or so & then i let it go. if it’s not as perfect as i would like it to be, if i notice an error later, or wish i’d said something different, i just go, “swaha!” whatever!
“when perfectionism is driving us, shame is always riding shotgun.” — brené brown
hasta, ruled by savitur, who creates the day anew every day by making the sun rise, brings the lesson that we, too, create our life anew every day. a good way to start our day is to chant the gayatri mantra, inviting the wisdom of savitur into our hearts to guide us:
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥
Om bhuur-bhuvah svah
tat-savitur-varennyam
bhargo devasya dhiimahi
dhiyo yo nah pracodayaat ||
we meditate on that most adored supreme lord, the creator, whose effulgence (divine light) illumines all realms (physical, mental and spiritual). may this divine light illumine our intellect.
it’s the thirteenth lunar day, the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which brings venusian, cupid-like energy—who can’t use a day to be with the ones we love, to feel into the joy & beauty in our lives, to satisfy the desires of our embodied existence?!
mars, who gives us courage to fight the good fight, owns tuesday. i may have said this before, but it bears repeating: with mars in libra, sign of relationships, through early december, we must beware flying off the handle at our people. mars prefers doing to using his words, or, um, to thinking: act first, think later is how he rolls. which isn’t usually an effective way to deal with our people … even if, especially if, they are annoying us, rubbing us the wrong way. let’s try to channel the firepower of mars to burn through our illusions about our relationships rather than burning them up.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
