it’s thursday, november 2, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra. gemini is where we get to, or are inspired to, indulge our curiosity & thinkiness, for example by “anti-aliasing,” which “the dictionary of obscure sorrows” defines as: “curiosity about the real flesh-&-blood people behind internet usernames, whose flamboyant uniqueness suggests that when our parents were searching our nameless faces looking for hints of who we would become, they really should have considered mr. cookieface, unicorn-puncher, dutchess von whatever or wookiegasm.”
ardra is ruled by rudra, the fierce aspect of shiva, the change agent, & “arouses us to greater effort,” says david frawley. “this struggle can bring great rewards but not without persistence & a degree of luck.” hmmm, well, what is luck but effort—the harder we try, the luckier we get, right? this asterism reminds us that “some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge” (eckhart tolle), that the sun always shines after a storm.
it’s the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waning moon, which turns qualities of jupiter, the air element & moon into a cocktail of inspiration, creativity & nourishment for our healing pleasure. there are five arrows of kamadeva, the god of desire, which brings passion to this tithi, so it’s considered the best day for romance (!) or to conceive a child (the ur act of creativity). there are five elements, five jnanendriyas (our sense organs, like our eyes, through which we perceive the world) & five karmendriyas (through which we act in the world to fulfill our desires, like using our hands to reach out & touch what we want, draw it to us). given the bonus of its being jupiter’s day, we are greatly supported in stoking our creative fire to nourish ourselves &/or others.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, planet of hope & optimism, inspiration & grace. & he’s directly aspecting the sun right now, pouring all his light into our souls. b/c sun is in libra, the sign of his debilitation, which means we may feel like a flat tire on a soul/energetic level, we can surely use this boost right now. can you feel fully inflated today? what are you pumped up about?
