it’s monday, november 8, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha. jupiter-ruled sagittarius vibrates with the frequency of belief in, faith in, something greater than ourselves. the transcendentalist philosopher-poet ralph waldo emerson wrote that “our faith comes in moments; our vice is habitual.” for waldo, vice didn’t mean drinking & gambling, but being unawake to our divinity, to our god-nature. it’s easy to get distracted, fall off the faith wagon, to ignore the signs that there is something bigger afoot guiding us.
if your soul has fallen asleep, whether it’s in deep REM sleep or is just cat-napping, you have a chance at least once a month, when moon spends a couple of days in this sattvic sign—not to mention on thursdays, which are ruled by jupiter—to nudge it or shake it the “eff” up, to remind yourself that you’re not alone, that there are forces bigger than yourself that have your back.
purvashadha means “invincible” & its symbol is an elephant tusk. who doesn’t think of ganesh when they think of an elephant? ganesh is said to have written the mahabharata in one go using his tusk as pen. the mahabharata didn’t come out of nowhere, but was a seed within him just waiting for the right moment to sprout. this asterism brings the lesson that we all have inners strengths, inner gifts, seeds that are just waiting for their moments to sprout & that if we water them we will successfully manifest them.
it’s the fifth lunar day, the fifth phase of the waxing moon, which brings moon goddess energy—healing & nurturing from the divine feminine. who can you be a balm for today? it’s ok if it’s you!
the moon owns monday, infusing the day with more of its special sauce, which is the sauce of heart connection, both connecting to our own heart, our own heart-knowing, heart wisdom, & connecting to other hearts, heart-to-heart connection.
on the livestream 50th anniversary celebration of “be here now” a couple of weeks ago, nina rao shared what krishna das once told her: “if you don’t trust your own heart, who are you going to trust?”
&, i might add: if you don’t trust your own heart, how can you trust someone else’s & truly connect?
