it’s wednesday, november 9, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called krittika. taurus vibrates with the frequency of our creature comforts & the happiness they bring, of being embodied beings with five senses through which to experience pleasure. ultimately, we want to be happy for no reason, not depend on external sources, but meanwhile, yeah, we get to enjoy art & music & food & sex & nature, sleeping in a cozy bed or reading a novel with a wood fire blazing & a cup of tea in hand, having friends over for dinner, etc. the key is to enjoy without attachment, without feeling our life depends on it, & definitely without guilt, cause guilt is def a spoiler. “don’t ever be ashamed of loving the strange things that make your weird little heart happy,” said elizabeth gilbert.
krittika comes from the sanskrit verb krt, which means “to cut,” & is related to both shiva’s son kartikeya, the famous general & demon slayer, & to agni, the primordial god of fire. the english word “critical” is also derived from that sanskrit root. how to make sense of all that? fire gives us insight & the ability to digest information using our critical faculties so we can see what’s serving us & what’s not, so that we can cut away, excise, our inner demons, with surgical skill. this asterism brings a lesson about purification by fire, about offering what doesn’t serve into the sacrificial fire. & how nice that it comes on the heels of the lunar eclipse, which may have revealed what needs to go.
it’s the second lunar day, the second phase of the waning moon, which brings blessings to acts of creation & creativity, especially those that add value to our life, that sustain us & our family, add wealth—wealth as in a feeling of abundance & support, altho, yeah, sure, if you’ve got a hot investment tip, go for it.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us the power to communicate, to use our words wisely. words are energy, they have power. one kind word can change someone’s day, & maybe more—maybe their whole life, maybe someone else’s day or life as they pass the kindness on. as mother teresa said, “kind words can be short & easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
